firms. CDSP also provides information that ease execution and automatization of
disassembly processes described in BODP.
In the value network, DF pays for customized disassembly support service, CDSP
pays for information provided by IP, and every stakeholder using an IIoT service
platform pays for usage for the platform.
34.3.3 Usage Viewpoint
Based on the business viewpoint described in Sect. 34.3.2, we have developed a
usage viewpoint of customized disassembly as shown in Fig. 34.2. We have identified
two roles (i.e. disassembly planner (DP) and disassembly engineer (DE)) in CDSP
and three roles (i.e. EOL product acceptance staff (AS), plant manager (PM), and
disassembly operator (DO)) in DF at first. Then, we have designed how IIoT system
support them by identifying activities that are to be executed by them.
Major activities are summarized as follows;
Data collection stage
• IP periodically collects publicly available information regarding, (1) regulation and legislation about waste treatment and transportation, (2) technological
information about disassembly equipment, (3) design information of products
including a list of constituent materials, product and component structure, disassembly means, and so forth, (4) usage condition and maintenance history of each
individual product, and (5) specification of the components and materials that are
used in products in markets.
Product acceptance and inspection stage
• AS receives EOL products.
• AS inspects EOL products based on pre-defined instruction.
• AS uploads inspection results.
• AS accepts and stocks EOL products in stock yards.
Disassembly planning stage
• DP receives a list of accepted EOL products with their inspection results.
• DP determines life cycle options for each component included in the collected
products considering profit by selling their recovered items as well as disassembly
cost. When predicting profit, DP consults with IP. IP informs acceptable conditions
of reuse components (and recycled materials) for OEM as well as their price. IP
also informs usage data and maintenance history of each individual product as
well as its design information (if possible), so that DP estimates the condition and
residual life of each component included in the collected products.
