OEM, disassembly equipment providers, government, and so forth, but other should
be estimated by interpreting and/or analyzing publicly available information which
are to be stored and shared in IIoT service platform.
Provider of IIoT platform (PoIIoT)
PoIIoT is the party who provides and operates IIoT platform that are used in the
case for sharing information and knowledge among multiple stakeholders. Because
different parties (or groups of parties) may use different IIoT service platform for
their particular concerns, two types of IIoT platform, private and public platforms,
might exist. The latter is used for information sharing among every stakeholders
involved in a whole life cycle of discarded products.
Collector of EOL product (CE)
CE is the party who collects EOL products from users and transports them to DFs.
CE is also responsible for adequate transportation of EOL products from user.
Certification authority (CA)
CA is the party who certificates DF and CE from the legal and/or ethical viewpoints.
Because some DF and CE might illegally dump EOL product or might ship them
abroad, certification of DF and CE is indispensable for ensuring adequate EOL
treatment of products. User who discards products as well as OEMs can select reliable
DF and CE based on the certification.
Tracking service provider (TSP)
TSP is the party who provides EOL products tracking service with certification
authority (CA). TSP tracks every transportation of EOL products as well as their
constituent components and materials and records their final destination.
Government (GV)
GV is the party who regulates the transportation and treatment of EOL products so
as to achieve environmentally sustainable society.
Disassembly equipment provider (DEP)
DEP is the party who provides disassembly equipment such as material handling
devices, manipulators, vision systems, 3D printers, and so forth that are used in DFs.
Flow of information and value proposition among the stakeholders are represented by black and red arrows, respectively. Source and destination of each arrow
correspond to a provider and a receiver of information and value, respectively.
For example, IP collects technological information about product, disassembly
equipment, materials, and components, as well as legislation and regulation information and usage data. Then, IP analyzes and interprets them and provides useful information with CDSP. CDSP determines optimal life cycle options for each individual
product based on information provided by IP, generates bill of disassembly process
(BODP) customized to each individual product, and provide them with disassembly
