31.3 Working Principle for ESMS
31.3.1 Provided Information for ESMS
In our model the ESMS makes decision on the charging and discharging of the
batteries upon a great number of collected information. These informations are as
follows:
• technical parameters
– charging characteristics of the devices
– SOC of the devices
– SOC of the energy storage in the nanogrid
– capacity of the energy storages
– power of the charger devices
• calendar events
• weather data
– actual weather
• sunshine intensity
• cloudiness
• temperature
• humidity
– weather forecast
• sunshine intensity
• cloudiness
• temperature
• humidity
Taking into account all these informations the program in the ESMS can decide
which battery has to be charged. The difficulty in this decision is the high number of
information and the estimation to which time is it necessary to have the ICT devices
battery fully charged.
31.3.2 Decision Making Principle
The program for the decision making consists of two main task, one of them is the
collecting of the necessary information and making the decision and the other is the
estimation of charging rate upon the collected information.
If there is no event in the calendars for the day, in that case the actual solar
irradiance on the PV cells and the SOC of the batteries are taking a role in the
