The IEM programme is in realise at 11 base stations in Poland (Fig. 15.1) and 1
station located on Spitsbergen in the Arctic. The observations are being carried out
in representative small catchment of rivers or lakes.
In 2017, some of the Polish IEM stations were incorporated into the network of
the European Integrated Monitoring programme [10].
15.3 Environmental Monitoring in the Struga Toru ´
nska
River Catchment
The Chełmno Lakeland IEM station at Koniczynka represents a geo-ecosystem of a
glacial morainic upland, forestless, and used for agricultural purposes [11]. Intensive
farming in that area is an extra burden on the environment, degrading soil, and
polluting surface water. Due to the clayey soils and specific hydrological conditions
