5.4.4 Recapitulation—Challenges and Constraints
The overall result of the analysis, performed in this paper, on the qualitative, quantitative and technical state of melioration leads to the following summary and concluding
remarks.
There is no doubt, that at present moment meliorations have passed into regression
phase. With respect to the importance of irrigation, it will increase along with the
intensification of agriculture and unfavorable climate changes, especially in vegetable
and fruit farming. An increase in the irrigated area, especially vegetables and
orchards, is observed with the help of modern water-saving micro-solvent systems
(drip, micro-coverage, root, etc.). In orcharding, drip installations are employed for
approx. 80% of the irrigated area.
Among the emerging problems, water shortage is already a factor limiting
the intensification of agricultural production. This unfavorable situation may even
