Table 8.1 The first step is to define the project/operation’s perimeter, the environment, personnel
and cyberspace

Comments
Project/operation “perimeter”
Inside the perimeter, where operations and personnel are under
corporate direct supervision and responsibility
Environment
Outside the perimeter, where external environmental damages
can occur, public is present. Hazards to the system can occur
in the environment
Personnel
Any person working directly or indirectly (subcontractors) for
the corporation present within the perimeter. During off-hours
personnel become residents of the environment
Cyber space
The realm of information, the web, data. That includes all
project’s/operation’s IT systems, SCADA, sensors, etc. as well
as the links to cyberspace (also including private cell-phones
and other devices connected, temporarily or permanently, to
corporate’s systems)
