13.11 Future Trends
13.11.1 Africa
Opportunities provided by the green economy could be exploited for their benefits.
Africa could also use climate change as an opportunity for developing new
industries across the region. Towards this end, there will be a significant shift
towards wind and solar energy. With Kenya having put up the largest wind energy
plant in the continent, other governments could follow suit. Green entrepreneurship
will become more familiar with more support from the government.
13.11.2 Asia
Asia could collaborate with global organizations as they pursue the SDGs. It can also
be projected that Asia will increase its efforts in green infrastructure, clean energy
and climate friendly activities to reach its targets. China could put in mechanisms for
ensuring that the cancer villages caused by pollution are not only reduced but also
mechanisms developed to reverse the trend by addressing the root causes. The region
could begin decoupling the use of energy and GDP to achieve energy efficiency. The
national energy policies could be aligned with SDG 7. China will be among the first
nations to build a smart city using artificial intelligence and renewable energy. The
country will also take steps to prevent pollution while simultaneously speeding up
its transition to clean energy. Also, changes within the urban environment in the
Middle East will be fueled by an international evolution in the fuel, transportation,
and construction industries. Autonomous driving will also become common in the
Arab world.
13.11.3 Australia
There could be a remarkable improvement in sustainability performance. Australia
will have to make hard choices for it to achieve its sustainable development targets
by 2030. The adoption of renewable energy could significantly increase in this
region.
13.11.4 Europe
There will be continued mainstreaming of the sustainable development goals
in European Union (EU) policies. These goals will continue inspiring political
