interfaces. In December, he founded the Boring Company. His contribution to
sustainability, especially the fields of physics, science, mathematics, and chemistry,
are well known. The objectives of SolarCity, Tesla, and SpaceX revolve around
the vision he had for changing humanity and the world. His objectives include
the reduction of global warming using sustainable energy production as well as
consumption. It also entails minimizing the vulnerability of human extinction
through the establishment of life on Mars.
The life of Elon Musk has been described as “The Real Life of Iron Man” because
of his sustainable vision. Musk is significantly changing energy, automotive, and
aerospace industries with sustainable solutions that could not have been envisioned
by past incumbents. The Stanford University dropout has the perception that his
academic background in computer science and physics provided him with insight
on the way to deal with counterintuitive situations. He is unique because of his
philanthropic approach to business. This is evidenced in Tesla’s mission that states,
“to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transport.” He has set a foundation
for a business entity that exceeds the traditional automotive manufacturer. He is
the “transitioner” of the shift from gas-powered to electric vehicles (Sheth et al.
2016). The launch of Tesla Motors has been instrumental in proving that electric
cars are viable for the future. The bold statement reaffirms that Tesla understands
that technological innovations are tools for achieving a sustainable future. With such
a confident stature, he is on track to realizing his vision for a sustainable future.
