6 Recrafting Amazigh Luxury
As a materialised product, high-quality function and experience, luxury became
fastened to sustainable values. In terms of architecture, sustainability is about the
endurance and longevity of a building material in a given context, but there are
other more pressing concerns today as far as considering new creative solutions for
luxurious constructions. Human impulses attracted the effort for the craftsperson
to create intricate structures destined for the fashion mogul to house its luxurious
materials and accoutrements in the form of a brick-tomb for tuning-into.
The crafting of architecture goes beyond what was created before. By respecting
its past materiality, markings and traditions and the creation of new spaces with
presence, craftsmanship inspires and attracts new forms of sustainable luxury—
crafting luxury—that embraces both local and global transcultural traditions. For
contemporary architecture to embrace and maintain the organic approach, the ‘moreish’ qualities can certainly forgo the preservation of cultural convention. And instead
accommodate the magical or rather more-ish properties of cultural consumption in
desert built environments. Crafted luxury is therefore a more-ish functional excess
to sustain lost cultural legacy.
