6. After termination of the fermentation, the maturated compost should satisfy the
following requirements:
(a) The compost is brown or grey brown, loose, and scentless, and does not
contain mechanical admixtures;
(b) The moisture content is blow 30%;
(c) The carbon–nitrogen ratio (C/N) is smaller than 20:1; and
(d) The oxygen consumption rate is basically stabilized.
4.3.7.3 Aftertreatment
1. The fully decomposed and stable compost products should be crushed, screened,
dried, and granulated.
2. Compost products, as a kind of organic fertilizers, should follow regulations in
standard NY 525; As a kind of microbial organic fertilizers, it needs to accord
with regulations in NY 884.
4.3.8 Ancillary Projects
4.3.8.1 The ancillary projects in composting plants should be matched with the
primary ones.
4.3.8.2 Rainwater and sewage should be shunted using the drainage system. Independent leachate collection devices should be set up in the composting
plants. After being collected, the leachate can supplement for the primary
fermentation of the raw materials, or discharged after being treated with
sewage treatment facilities. It is prohibited to discharge the leachate directly.
4.3.8.3 Deodorization facilities and medicament should be used or mixed animalcule bacteria of favorable deodorization effect should be inoculated to purify
and eliminate the odor gases such as hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, and
ammonia.
4.3.8.4 The setting of fire-fighting equipment should meet the fire-fighting requirements and accord with relevant regulations in standards GB 50016 and GB
50140.
4.3.8.5 Inspection facilities and warehouses for finished compost products should
be equipped. The storage should conform to the regulations in standards
NY 525 and NY/T 798-2004.
4.3.8.6 The storage of raw materials of the compost should meet the following
requirements:
(a) Dry and wet materials need to be stored respectively; and
(b) The ground needs to be hardened.
