The nickel (Ni)
The average nickel concentrations in different mussel organs
were in the range of 4.11 (gonad in spring) to 25.7 (digestive
gland in summer), 0.47 (gonad in winter) to 9.64 (gill in winter), and 0.36 (gonad in spring) to 5.19 (digestive gland in
summer) for mussels collected respectively from Figuier,
Sercouf, and Algiers port sites. Therefore, at Figuier, significant Ni content was found in the digestive gland followed by
gonad in summer. The same pattern of Ni distribution in organs of mussels was observed in autumn and winter; indeed,
the decrease Ni order was gill ˃ digestive gland ˃ RST ˃
