10 Palaeoclimate
The history of the past climate of the Schirmacher Oasis and its environs has been
built from the data obtained from the physical, geomorphologic, ice cores, geochronological and palaeo-botanical proxies. The radiocarbon dating of the sections of
cores from lake sediments and till deposits and pollen studies have contributed a
wealth of the data in this regard. The periglacial environment of Schirmacher Oasis
