3.2.2 Sector-II (South of MCT)
Nanger Village Section
At Nanger village, four prominent levels of terrace surfaces were observed, the
upper terrace surface lies at a height of ~120 m from present day Yamuna channel
(Fig. 11d). The bottom 100 m of the terrace deposit is not exposed whereas the top
20 m section consist of poorly to moderately sorted clast supported, imbricated
gravel with rounded to surrounded clast in sandy matrix (Gm facies) (Fig. 11a–c).
The matrix shows feeble oxidation and overall the clast size displays fining upward
trend. The lower terrace surface lies at the height of 95 m from the river bed forming
vertical scarp. The terrace section exposes around 45 m thick Quaternary sedimentary sequence which conspicuously rests over bed rock (Fig. 11c, d). The sequence
dominantly consists of clast supported, moderately sorted, imbricated, rounded to
sub rounded clasts in sandy matrix Gm facies. Another level of surface lies at the
