12.2 UHPCC-FST Specimens

test is reported in Fig. 12.2b, from which the tensile strength of the UHPCC was
measured to be 9 MPa.
12.2.3 Fabrications
In this study, a total of six UHPCC-FST specimens were designed with the reduced
scale of 1/4 according to the prototype of a height of 8 m. The specimens consisted
of a reinforced concrete (RC) base block and a steel tube filled with UHPCC, and
the specific dimensions are illustrated in Fig. 12.3. The total height of UHPCC-FST
was 2420 mm, the bottom 420 mm length of which was buried in the base block. The
bottom of the base block was welded with a steel plate which had a dimension of
400 mm × 400 mm × 20 mm. The outer diameter of the steel tube was 203 mm with
the tube wall thickness of 6 mm. The base block was fabricated with the dimension
of 800 mm × 800 mm × 420 mm, and cast by the ordinary Portland cement concrete
with the grade of 46 MPa. The configuration of the steel rebar cage in base block
is shown in Fig. 12.4, in which the reinforcing bars and stirrup were made of Q345
threaded steel with the diameter of 22 mm and 12 mm, respectively. For holes with the
diameter of 50 mm were reserved in the base block for the following low-frequency
cyclic test, and four anchor hooks were placed though the pre-fabricated holes for
