6. Large aeroacoustic automobile wind tunnel
Tongji University is guided by scientific and technological innovation
and new energy vehicle development. It is also featured by innovative research mechanism and organizational structure. In 2009, Tongji
University completed and put into operation an aeroacoustic vehicle wind
tunnel. The section size of the acoustic wind tunnel is 6.3 m × 4.2 m, the
maximum wind speed is 69.4 m/s, and the off-site noise index of the test
section is 61 dBA under the wind speed of 44.4 m/s. This “wind tunnel”
not only can do it for the automotive vehicle test but can also perform
high-speed train simulation test, technology belonging to the international
first-class level. There are more than 10 auto acoustic wind tunnels in
the world. The wind tunnel of Tongji University is one of them. This
wind tunnel laid a foundation for China’s independent automobile brand
creation (as shown in Figs. 6.37 to 6.40). As a key technology platform for
public automobiles and rail vehicles, automobile wind tunnel will provide
important basic services for China’s automobile and rail vehicle industry,
especially for the independent research and development of new energy
vehicles, and also provide important technical support for China’s automobile industry from “made in China” to “created in China”. The test
section, with a five-belt mobile ground system and a six-component test
balance, will be the quietest wind tunnel of its kind in the world. The
wind tunnel center is capable of carrying out a series of tests on all kinds
of vehicles and parts, including cars, buses, SUVs and trucks, and rail
vehicle models.
