(webofknowledge.com)
From 378 recorded papers, 62.46% were scientific articles, 42.59% proceedings
paper, the other being book chapters, editorial materials, meeting abstracts and notes.
Concerning the origin of contributors, mostly are from Romania, Romanescu et al.
[165, 157, 169, 170, 162, 163, 166, 156, 171, 167, 158–161], Romanescu and Stoleriu
[164] and Teodosiu et al. [187–189] having more than 10 papers each, followed by
authors from Hungary, Germany, U.K., Switzerland, USA (Fig. 3.3).
The high production of articles on water pollution in Romania can be explained
by changes throughout the last 30 years in sources of human water consumption,
pressures exerted by the increasing demand for good water quality resources has led
to action in order to manage water and establish limits for some priority substances

Water pollution and contamination of water bodies worldwide is one of the environmental problems facing our world today. While it is known that human-induced
pollution exceeds by far the pollution induced by natural causes, sometimes they
prefer eye closure in this direction. What we sometimes fail to understand is that
besides humanity, affected by contamination are also various living organisms on
the planet.
3.1.1 Water Pollution and Types
Water pollution can be characterized in several ways. It usually indicates that one or
more substances have increased their concentration in water to such an extent that
they may lead to perturbations and even damage the health of animals or humans.
