Considering the great resource of water in the studied area, the number of water
sources used for extinguishing the possible fires can be supplemented with mobile
motor-pumps. The motor-pumps can collect the water straight form the Danube
branches or from the numerous lakes or ponds, which have been identified as being
20, the most important of them being: the Lupascu, the Begu and the Toplosca Ponds,
the Melinte, Sbenghiozul, Lupoiu and Curcubeu Lakes, The Zaina, Cucova de Jos
Mountain Lakes, as well as the Iezerul Popii, Misailla, and Fundul Mare Lakes. The
water volume of the seven permanent reservoirs has been estimated to a total volume
of 7 million m

13.5 Conclusions
Running the ArcSwat application emphasizes the local characteristics of wetlands
with a negative balance of the water flow taking into consideration important surfaces
occupied by water, which determines important evaporation between the 1st of March
and the 30th of October. Difficulties in applying this method include the difficulty
of accurately determining hydrographic basins in the context of an extremely low
slope of the terrain and a high density of the hydrographic network (branches, canals,
lakes) [53].
In a thematic context, the hydrological information determined for this territory
must be aggregated with data on forest vegetation, i.e. the development of fuel map
and fire risk mapping [54]. Considering the area specific, we believe that, from the
point of view of the water resource, necessary for fire extinguishing there should
not be imposed special storage conditions, and we suggest the building of reservoirs
(basins) of the earth with the depth of approx. 4 m, supplied with the water from the
phreatic aquifer in the areas with greater fire risk, from where there can be supplied
the necessary water for extinguishing vegetation fires in the Small Braila Wetlands,
by pumping with individual groups of pumps and portable electrical generators [55].
