Fig. 13.13 The terrain and vegetation on the islands
researched area inaccessible to fire trucks. Under these circumstances, we must find
a solution based on faster and smaller vehicles capable of heaving on rough ground.
At the same time, the building restrictions generated by the rules of a natural park
make it almost impossible to build roads or a permanent infrastructure for putting
out fires.
13.4.2 The Building Restrictions
The building restrictions are generated by the features of the foundation ground, first
of all of some classical areal reservoirs used for depositing water to put out vegetation
fires, due to the elevated position of the underground water and because the terrain
is made up of alleviations mixed with organic materials. Using materials such as
reinforced concrete, iron, and other building materials may have an impact on the
environment and are restricted in this area. Also, the access to building machines
is forbidden and inaccessible (excavators, cranes, concrete pumps, concrete mixers
etc.).
