12 Water Resources from Romanian Upper Tisa Basin
425
The Tisa corridor from the Vis , eului Valley and Piatra and the Lower Tur Plain
have additional quantities of water due to the underground waterbodies, stored in the
fluviatile deposits and those of the Pannonian Basin.
12.4.1 Public Access to Networks or Systems of Water Supply
Public access to local or centralised systems of water supply depends on various
factors, such as the position of the locality related to constant abstracted sources, its
layout related to the already existing systems, residential neighbourhoods or streets in
the peripheral areas, unserved by current systems, isolated households with difficult
water network connection etc.
For the studied area, most localities and residential areas have less than 20% of
their inhabitants unconnected to a water supply network of any kind (Fig. 12.17)—
from west to east:
– the median Tur basin; Turt , ului and Tarna Mare basins; Valea Rea upper basin;
– S˘ apânt , a river basin;
– the Tisa corridor from Saras˘ au to Lunca la Tisa;
– Mara and Cos˘ au valleys, except the village of Sârbi;
– the upper Iza basin, except the villages of S , ieu, Bogdan Vod˘ a and S˘ acel;
– the lower Vis , eu basin, except Valea Vis , eului;
– the upper Vis , eu basin, except Moisei.
On the other hand, in the studied area there are localities with a high percentage
of inhabitants unconnected to water supply networks, neither local nor systems.
We identified the following situations, from west to east:
