11 Monitoring and Management of Water in the Siret River …

– The automated rain gauges should also be multiplied as it necessary especially
when there are registered local rainfalls.
In the case of representative basins, it is imperative to use modern hydrometrical
equipment (level sensors, water and air temperature sensors, automatic rain gauges).
Some other recommendations are:
– Preventions, reduction and control of pollution on surface and groundwater and
conservation of its living resources in accordance with generally accepted international rules and standards.
– Sustainable and equitable management of the Siret River Waters.
– Conservation, improvement and rational use of surface water and groundwater in
the Siret River Waters.
– Control of the hazards caused by accidents with pollutants for surface and groundwater.
– Control of hazards caused by floods and frost on Siret River Waters.
Acknowledgements The authors would like to express their gratitude to the employees of the
Romanian Waters Agency Bucharest, Siret Water Direction Bacau, particularly to Dr. Petre Olariu,
hydrologist at this research and administration agency, who kindly provided a significant part of
the data used in the present study.
