3.5 Recommendations
– Adopt a holistic approach of water pollution concepts to create effective source
control pollution mechanisms rather than end-of-pipe solutions.
– For the protection of water resources, it is essential to continue with the same
determination and desire because the improvement of water quality is ongoing.
– Strengthening and raising awareness among local communities and significant
decision-makers on the value of aquatic and freshwater ecosystems.
– Restoring the natural functioning of the river by modifying the current infrastructure, ensuring at the same time the safety and proper functioning of the natural
and anthropic habitats.
– Restriction, blocking or strict usage of non-deterioration (avoiding the development of a new hydropower plant).
