5 Door-to-Door Meetings
The number of houses was calculated, divided and made door-to-door visits to all
houses. The details like number of people in that house, what was the major occupation, what was their monthly income, number of educated in their family, whether
they do agriculture, whether they have any cows and goats if yes what was their
count, what was their mode of disposal of waste, what kind of waste was generated
by them, do they have any sump for disposing the liquid waste from the kitchen and
bathroom, do they have any soak pit for leaving the wastewater, whether they have
toilet facility, whether they use their toilet for defecation or the do open defecation
where collected and what will be the causes if open defecation is done, importance
of bathing daily and maintaining self-health, etc. the village people co-operated well
with us. They were able to understand what we are saying.
The door-to-door meeting was done mainly in order to take the survey of the
houses with toilets and number of without toilets. During the survey, the awareness
was also created regarding the importance of hand wash, using toilets.

6 Swachh Fuel and Its Impact
The fuel that emits zero percent CO 2 to the atmosphere is known as Swachh fuel.
Clean fuels are biomass to ethanol, bio-CNG, using of solar power and wind energy,
etc., India is known emerging as power in clean fuel, and it has set up a biomass to
ethanol-producing plant by Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. Bio-CNG
Production Plant from industrial and municipal wastes has also being initiated and
Rapid Anaerobic Digester Technology developed by DBT-ICT Center Mumbai.
These large-scale technologies were taken as examples, and awareness was created among the village people. The waste was collected from the houses, and small
biogas plant was drawn.
7 Energy-Efficient Stove
7.1 Construction of Stove
According to the survey taken in the village of Silvarpatti, most of the people use
the traditional wooden stove. The traditional stove was less in its efficiency and so
the energy-efficient stove was introduced (Banerjee and Prasad 2016). The stove was
