11.4.3 Pt on Metal
Pt NPs (3.0–3.8 nm) deposited on Au@SiO 2 were employed as catalysts for CAL
hydrogenation, leading to the preferential formation of the saturated aldehyde HCAL
(150 °C, 10 bar H 2 ) [53]. A similar result was reported by the same authors in which
they stressed the rate enhancement by the Pt@Au@SiO 2 catalyst compared to other
catalysts in which one component was lacking [54].
