Haiqian Yu is working as a Ph.D. student at Heinrich
Heine University Düsseldorf under the supervision of Prof.
Peter Proksch. His work focuses on the discovery of new
bioactive fungal secondary metabolites. He received an M.
Sc. degree from Tarim University in 2015. Since November
2015, he has been working in Prof. Proksch’s group. He
worked on the coprophilous fungus Coniella fragariae,
which yielded a series of azaphilone derivatives with
NF-κB inhibition and tumor cell migration reduction, leading to two published papers. His main interests are on the
discovery of metabolites from fungi derived from unusual
sources.
Nam M. Tran-Cong is doing his Ph.D. degree in pharmacy
at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf under the supervision of Prof. Peter Proksch. His work has involved the
investigation of natural products. He took his second state
examination in pharmacy from Heinrich Heine University
Düsseldorf in 2014 and after his third state examination he
became a licensed pharmacist. In April 2016, he joined the
research group of Prof. Peter Proksch as a Ph.D. student. He
obtained knowledge in herbal medicine, and in the characterization, isolation, and structural elucidation of secondary
metabolites. He is interested in the isolation and characterization of new natural products as potential lead compounds
against cancer and infectious diseases.
