Dr. Kaiqin Xu received a B.Sc. in Hydro-power Engineering from the Wuhan University of Hydraulic and
Electric Engineering (now Wuhan University), China,
and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (water
supply and water treatment) from Tohoku University,
Japan, respectively. Dr. Xu held a position as an assistant professor and as an associate professor at the
Department of Civil Engineering of Tohoku University.
Dr. Xu joined the Water and Soil Environmental Division of NIES, Tsukuba, Japan, as a senior research
scientist. He was a section leader in Environmental
Restoration and Conservation Technology, NIES.
Dr. Xu is interested in the research fields of watershed
management, eutrophication countermeasures, water
environment restoration technology, decentralized
wastewater treatment (rural sewage treatment) technology, energy recovery from organic waste (biomass),
environmental education, etc. Dr. Xu has received
many excellent paper awards from the Japan Society
on Water Environment, Water Treatment Biology, etc.
