9.2.2 Addition of Test Effluent
Addition of test effluent to the microcosm is conducted on day 0, when cultivation of
the microcosm begins, or on the 16th day, when the microcosm has reached a
stationary phase. For experiments with day 0 additions of chemical substances, the
effect of the test effluent on the microcosm and the constituent microbiota may or
may not allow a stationary phase to be reached (i.e., a stable ecosystem may or may
not be established). For experiments in which chemical substances were added on
the 16th day, the effect of the test effluent on the microcosm and the constituent
