Clarissa Ferreira Albrecht da Silveira is a Professor at the Department of Architecture and
Urbanism, Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil, and has been teaching visual communication and
architectural design. She completed her Ph.D. in Architecture at Penn State University, USA,
where she was also engaged in architectural studio and seminar teaching and landscape performance research. Clarissa is a licensed architect and urbanist in Brazil, holds the title of M.Sc. in
Forest Science, and is trained as a LEED Green Associate by the USGBC. Her research focuses on
green principles and practices for environmentally responsible design and regenerative solutions.
Joyce Correna Carlo is an Associate Professor in Federal University of Viçosa and the coordinator of Latecae—Laboratory of Technologies of Building Comfort and Energy Efficiency, where
she develops studies regarding energy efficiency, thermal comfort and daylighting using building performance simulation. Her expertise also includes low energy strategies and optimization
methods. She is a member of the national advising committee of the Energy Efficiency Labeling Program for Buildings of Inmetro, an auditor of Inmetro for the Energy Efficiency Labeling
Program for Buildings, and a founding member of IBPSA Brazil—International Building Performance Simulation Association.
Lisa Domenica Iulo is an Associate Professor of Architecture and Director of the Hamer Center
for Community Design at the Pennsylvania State University. She is Registered Architect, Professional Planner, and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) who has focused her work and
research on building and planning for a more sustainable and resilient built environment. Specifically, Lisa’s work has been recognized in research and practice related to High-performance building practices, affordable housing and strategies for the implementation of renewable energy at the
building and community scale. Her teaching and research is closely linked with outreach and community engagement with a goal of facilitating collaboration across disciplines and communities.
Peter Buckland is the Academic Programs Manager at Penn State’s Sustainability Institute where
he coordinates sustainability education programs. He also holds an affiliate faculty position in
Penn State’s Educational Theory and Policy department. He has communicated in peer-review
and popular press on sustainability, environmental issues, and education including The Journal
of Educational Leadership, Policy and Practice, The International Journal of Ethics Education,
The Washington Post, TEDxPSU, Democracy Works, and others.
