instantaneous decrease in the E h , which gradually continued to –400 mV, but later
(from day 150) an increase due to electrode passivation was observed. Oppositely,
on the anode (IS-10), the change in the E h is very small and the E h is maintained
around +200 mV for the whole experiment. The E h on the electrode near the anode
(I-41) behaves similarly to the anode and well I72 near the cathode similarly to the
cathode, but the decrease in the E h is not so significant. The pH in all of the
boreholes, with the exception of the cathode (I-2), varied between 6 and 8; in the
area of the cathode, the pH reached extreme values above 12.
