Figure 3.23 shows a photographic illustration of the extracted gas treatment
process. The liquid effluent was treated in two stages:
• Free product was separated from the dissolved phase using an oil/water separator
• Dissolved phase was passed over an activated carbon filter (Fig. 3.24)
Gas and water outflows were analyzed during remediation.
3.6.3 Results and Interpretation
This pilot test was performed over 128 days. The ground heating period lasted
72 days and the ground cooling period lasted 56 days. The temperatures at the
heating points were stabilized at around 600
C (Figs. 3.25 and 3.26) and were
greater than the TCB and lindane volatilization temperatures.
