declines greatly accelerating, and whereas the selfishness index, like the heat index,
has reached an insufferable threshold, we gather ’round this substance within emptiness, these stunning vagaries of vagueness within nothingness. And just quite possibly denominate a biological proxy for ourselves in the near distant coordinates of
the final comforts in bed, at the end of the world that we have abandoned in our
recklessness. If we can actually envision that end, perhaps we may also conceive of
its alternatives.
The Stanford University online journal, MAHB (Millennial Alliance for
Humanity and the Biosphere) has for several years proffered increasingly dire schematics of such calculations, inciting the necessary panic that should guarantee a
level of ecological deficit attention. Rallying cries for the fragmented earth. A
Doomsday Compass, not least, biodiversity devastation everywhere, is underscored
by such newly charted threats as the “methane gun” at polar latitudes, “trillions of
tons” of trapped methane (CH 4 ) now being released in an unstoppable cascade of
added atmospheric warming. Writes paleo-climatologist Andrew Glikson of
Australia National University, “Budgets on a scale of military spending (US1.7 trillion in 2017) are required in an attempt to slow down the current trend across climate tipping points”
