As a measure of so many variables scattered in the teeming boundaries of that
which functions and those which have ceased to do so, Being, Consciousness, and
their mutual alliance enunciate without surcease the exquisite lessons and rationales
that discount fatalistic propositions in favor of some conscious opportunistic
embrace. That is the universal sense that natural selection has clearly upheld as a
meaningful cohort of survival the intelligence of flowers, the perceptual faculties of
an eagle, and the deep range tolerance of a Weddell Seal.

All the variations of such fellow Beings have continued to benefit from every
benign commission, act, and impulse that consciousness clairvoyantly adopts. The
garden admits to a combining of proclivities and possibilities, and this may be as
close as we can come to recognizing some form of the universal bond that is the
source of our thoughts and intuitions. A rite of passage that would, if we were only
to let it be, provide the itinerary for a very different pilgrim’s progress, one that
sought solely in consciousness the best for biodiversity.
