in Fig. 10.6. The variation of Hs, Tm and em at 20 m water depth is
compared with that simulated using WAM during 14-31 December 2011
and is depicted in Fig. 10.7. It is inferred that Hs and 6m are in good
agreement under both normal and cyclonic duration near the study area.
It is seen that the Hs varies from about 1.5 to 2.0 m, whereas, the Tm is
found to be in the range of 6 s to 9 s until 96 hours before the landfall of
cyclone. The said variations show a small degree of variability. Subsequently.
a drastic increase of Hs and Tm demonstrates the severity of the sea State
during the approach of Thane towards the coast. Its effect can be seen
from the increase of Hs up to 6.2 m with an associated Tm up to 13 s in a
water depth of 20 m. The predicted Tm deviates while the cyclone builds
up the wave climate, i.e., just after 27 December. The details are reported
by Anand et al. (2014).
