Coastal Engineering: Theory and Practice
seawall [Kamikubo et al. 2000] constructed at Kurahashi Island, Hiroshima
Préfecture at Japan and Fig. 9.3 shows the prototype and model scale
down version of curved seawall located at Galveston, Texas, USA [Coastal
Engineering Manual, 2006]. Photo 9.1 depicts the fabricated scaled down
model of seawall.

The hydrodynamic scaling parameters are water depth, wave height
and wave period for a two-dimensional study. For a given scale factor A,
the hydrodynamics parameters are scaled down as follows,
Water depthTO — water depthp/A
5/10 = 0.5 m
Wave heightm — wave heightp/A
3/10 = 0.3 m
Wave periodm — wave period^/^/A
6/v/ÏÔ = 1.89 sec to 9/a/ÏÔ = 2.84 sec
