5. Rubble Mound Structures

at B-B.
An OWC can also be integrated with an S-type breakwater similar to that with caisson breakwater as discussed earlier. This could be
with one or more numbers of OWC integrated with an S-type breakwater for the formation of a harbour or, to serve as part of detached
breakwaters to serve as Coastal protection measure. Thus, the costs will
be shared and the benefits are more than just Coastal protection or
energy from océan waves. A typical concept of incorporating OWC with
S-type breakwater for this purpose is shown in Figs. 5.7(a)-5.7(c). The
performance characteristics of an array OWC integrated with offshore
detached S-type breakwaters subjected to different angle of wave incidence
in regular wave field hâve been assessed through a well-controlled compréhensive experimental program by John Ashlin et al. [2016] and the
results are found to be quite encouraging. Typical view of OWC integrated rubble mound and semi-circular detached breakwater that could
be adopted for islands are shown in Figs. 5.7(d) and 5.7(e), respectively.
A typical deep water berthing facility with OWC is shown in Fig. 5.7(f).
