4.6.3 Kérala coast
4.6.3.1 General
Kérala Coast dynamic in nature situated along the south west of Indian
peninsula is of length of about 590 km, facing the Arabian Sea extends
from Latitude 80o15zN to 120°85,N and longitude 740°55'E to 770°05'E
several stretches of which are zones of severe érosion.
Until 2006, a single cross-section seawall designed was executed uniformly for the entire coast for protection which had been serving only
as temporary solution. The seawalls of uniform cross-sections had been
adopted for the entire coast and that was revised over the years the details of
which from the 1960s are as described in Fig. 4.19. The seawalls completed
using the conventional design suffered severe damage during the subséquent
