Furthermore, prior to looking at the options in hand, for a coast under
distress due to érosion, a Coastal sédiment budget will help in the planning
of the protection measure. The options for Coastal protection are listed
below.
• Do nothing.
• Remove the causes for Coastal érosion although is the best solution but
always may not feasible.
• Supply sédiments to the affected area termed as artificial nourishment.
• Reduce loads by constructing submerged breakwaters in front of the
coast.
• Increase the strength by constructing shore defense structures (hard
measure to be discussed later).
• Végétation termed as bio-shields.
