A propos vessels. If there are problems or delays with one of the
30 vessels, this affects the time management for other processes either directly or indirectly: as everything is interdependent.
As the person responsible for marine coordination in the Butendiek operations centre, Julia Ullrich constantly monitors ail activities and the schedules of every single vessel in and around
the construction site. And sometimes a vessel suddenly appears
on the radar that in fact has no business being in the construction area. "From time to time it really does happen that sailors
enter the construction area", explains the 30 year-old who previously studied at the technical college in Elsfleth and has been
employed at wpd since 2010.
Butendiek is the first offshore project for the industrial engineer.
wpd has hired the Max as a guard vessel in order to identify these
"extraneous vessels" as she puts it, as quickly as possible. This
vessel permanently circles the construction site in order to keep
unwelcome vessels away from the construction site. As well as
this guard vessel, Ullrich also has to manage the deployment plan
of the crew vessels, which are ail chartered by wpd. "These vessels bring the entire personnel out to sea", she says granting an
