potential density anomaly vertical profiles (Fig. 4a, b) we can identify the puises
of outcoming supercold water, sometimes associated with recirculation processes, as shown by salinity minimum, probably due to the mixing with the water outside the RIS cavity. During these 3 months, four épisodes of intrusion of supercold water are évident, even if a relatively steady circulation System is established.
Looking at Figs. 3b, 4a, b we can identify the first épisode (Julian day 62-65) as a
true intrusion of supercold water flowing from the RIS cavity, owing to the good
corrélation observed between cold température, increased potential density
anomaly and V-component of velocity. The second event (Julian day 96-100) is
characterized by a much more intense T signal, a decreased density anomaly and
a négative V-component. This could be related to a recirculation of the first event
or to a new inflow coming from near the mooring location. We are keen to support the hypothesis of a recirculation of the first event, or of previous ones, on the
basis of the observed density signal, which we consider to be a good indicator of
a mixing event during the recirculation. The third épisode (Julian day 121-123)
stands again for a recirculation event, owing to the négative V-component of
velocity and the decreased density anomaly, while the last one (Julian day
