OXYGÈNE DISSOUS
Pendant le titrage au contact de l’oxygène de l'air les ions nitrite sont régénérés :
4 NO + 2 H2O - O2-4H *
+ 4 NO2 .
Les deux réactions se succèdent donc indéfiniment sans que l’on puisse observer
le point équivalent.
On admet que jusqu’à 50 pg.!-1 d’azote nitreux (~ 3,5 pmol.r1)
l’interférence est négligeable.
L’introduction d’azoture de sodium (NaN3) dans le réactif 2 élimine totalement l’interférence par destruction des ions nitrite :
2 h+ + no; + n; -+ n2 + n2o + h2o .
En revanche, l’azoture interfère lui-même légèrement, introduisant une
erreur de 1 à 2 % (Golterman et al., 1978 ; Aminot, non publié).
Lorsque l’on s’attend à des concentrations de nitrite supérieures à
3 pmol.r1, il est encore tout à fait réaliste d’effectuer un dosage correct et
précis sans ajout de NaN3. Il faut prendre toutes précautions lors du titrage
pour éviter la régénération de nitrite par dissolution d’air dans l’échantillon
(pas de transvasage, faible surface de contact avec l’air, dosage rapide, agitation minimum). Les dosages peuvent ainsi être réalisés jusqu'à 40 pmol.l-1
avec une précision acceptable (Aminot, non publié).
