Conclusion
Three main seasonal processes are proposed to be the driving mechanisms tor the bay of Biscay oceanography, namely Poleward Current,
wind drag and freshwater run-off. The annual cycle may be triggered in
wintertdme. A combination of events rather than just a single agent may
be accounted for the three typical oceanographic scenarios. The driving
processes conducting the attainment of each oceanographic situation
have an effect on shelf processes. Apart from biological considerations, the success of recruitment will strongly depend on ichtyoplankton survival, for which both food availability through primary production and lanal retention within closed structures are postulated
bottlenecks.
