beaches, but only about 500 Gentoos among tussock grass nearby.
Rockhoppers were reported as fairly numerous on grass-covered cliffs,
scree and boulders; rather surprisingly the most plentiful penguin seems
to be the Macaroni (“in vast numbers”, Crawford and Serventy, 1952,
