Abstract
In the context of climate change, it’s appropriate to refine the information about climate
change in a country, which can have negatives impacts like Algeria.
The first part of this research affects the study of climate evolution and trends of coastal
Algerian climate through climate index. Beyond the high annual and seasonal and monthly
variability of precipitations and temperatures since the last decades (1970), the distribution of
precipitations and temperatures in the Algerian coastal stations changed between 1950 and
2010. This change consists on a climate more dry and warm and it coincides with the
increasing of global warming. The analysis of atmospheric variations like NAO and ENSO
allowed confirming that the configuration of NAO and ENSO hadn’t a high influence on the
precipitations and temperature system of Algerian coastal stations.
The second part of this research are the analysis of global warming thermic trends (SST) in
the Algerian basin between 1950-1999 and their relations with the global warming index; this
study showed that in the Algerian basin according to the area (east, center or west) and
according to the season, observed trends are not the same for the seasons. These trends are in
relation with global warming.
Key-Words: climate change, Algerian climate, pluviometry, temperature, global warming,
NAO, ENSO, SST, Algerian basin.
