Description :
In this book, the authors consider the natural environment as an integrated system and describe a cohesive approach to its modeling and prediction. The book emphasizes the mathematical representation and numerical simulation of the interactions between the various environmental components and those of the environmental processes, including physical, chemical and biological. Furthermore, it summarizes some of the recent progress and new developments in the modeling and prediction of the atmosphere, ocean, land surface, continental hydrosphere, cryo-sphere, etc. The authors also explore new theoretical frameworks in environmental prediction, such as systems analysis and statistical dynamic modeling. The applications of remote sensing and geography information systems in environmental modeling and prediction are discussed. Examples of integrated environmental modeling are given.
