Abstract
The ocean covers nearly 70% of the planet's surface and offers tremendous biodiversity
with an invaluable source of natural products.
Marine sponges (Porifera) are the oldest form metazoan life on earth are among the
richest sources in pharmacology of active compounds. These sponges have a great
chemical diversity of their metabolites such as nucleosides, terpenes, sterols, peptides,
alkaloids, fatty acids, etc.
So, we chose the Crambe crambe species (Schmidt, 1862) which is a red sponge widely
distributed in the Mediterranean and which marks its presence in the Algerian coasts
(Sfecci et al., 2016).
Sea sponge specimens were collected during the period of June, July and September
2017 at a depth of between 10 and 16 m
The sponge tissues were placed in seawater in plastic bags and put in a cooler to keep
them cool and then immediately transported to the laboratory. The treatment of the
tissues was carried out as quickly as possible in order to avoid the deterioration of the
targeted molecules.
At the laboratory level, the samples were sorted, referenced, photographed after
identification according to the bleaching method in order to select the target species
(crambe crambe) and described before proceeding to lyophilization and then grinding.
These samples are then stored at 4 ° C to avoid any risk of degradation.
The lyophilized sample of C. crambe (11.65 g) marine sponge was macerated due to
extraction by three methods. These extracts are then stored at -18 ° C pending
identification by the chromatographic method, HPLC and infrared.
According to the results obtained, the presence of the two families of guanidine alkaloids
(carmbescidin and crambescin) was little confirmed and the identification of six of the
nine molecules 9 previously described by its absorption spectrum was confirmed.
