Résumé
La côte algérienne est considérée comme un hot spot de la biodiversité marine méditerranéenne.
Posidonia oceanica est parmi les paysages les plus remarquables et les plus structurants de la
biodiversité marine dans cette région. Malgré son importance écologique et économique, la
distribution et la caractérisation de ces herbiers ont été peu documentées en Algérie.
Nous avons réalisé ce travail pour contribuer à l’alimentation de la base de données nationale
BANBIOM. Trois résultats majeurs ont été obtenues par le présent travail, une carte de
distribution des herbiers à Posidonie de la côte algérienne, un inventaire des espèces
faunistiques et floristiques associées à ces herbiers en Algérie ainsi qu’une base de donnée
relative aux herbiers à Posidonie de la côte algérienne.

Abstract
The Algerian coast is considered a hot spot of Mediterranean marine biodiversity. Posidonia
oceanica is among the most remarkable and structuring landscapes of marine biodiversity in
this region. Despite its ecological and economic importance, the distribution and
characterization of these meadows have been little documented in Algeria.
We have carried out this work to contribute to the national BANBIOM database. Three major
results were obtained by this work, a distribution map of Posidonia meadows on the Algerian
coast, an inventory of the fauna and flora species associated with these meadows in Algeria,
and a database of Posidonia meadows on the Algerian coast.
