Résumé
La métropolisation des villes est un phénomène planétaire, qui affecte particulièrement des
villes côtières et économiquement attractive. La wilaya d’Alger est le noyau économique ; pays
d’Alger est touché par une urbanisation intensive. Cette artificialisation incontrôlée, qui s’est
souvent étalée de manière anarchique (habitat précaire ou collectif-étatique) est souvent
transgressive des lois en vigueur et des instruments de planification et a causé une dégradation
environnemental significative de l’espace côtier algérois. Le but de ce travail est d’analyser la
croissance urbaine dans la wilaya d’Alger au cours des années 2015 et 2021 et ce, à l’aide des
techniques de télédétection. Pour cela, nous avons utilisé des images satellitaires de type SAR,
acquises gratuitement sur le site Copernicus. Nous les avons prétraités afin de les préparer à une
classification d’images avec un algorithme basé sur le « machine learning ». L'échantillonnage
s’est fait sur le logiciel Google Earth grâce à ses images historiques. Ce travail nous a permis de
faire une analyse comparative qui a clairement montré qu’en 7 ans, l’artificialisation des sols a
évolué d’une manière intense.

Abstract
The metropolitan development of cities is a global phenomenon, which particularly affects coastal and
economically attractive cities. The wilaya of Algiers is the economic core; the country of Algiers is
affected by intensive urbanization. This uncontrolled artificialization, which is often spread in an anarchic
way (precarious housing or collective-state) is often transgressive of the laws in force and planning
instruments and has caused significant environmental degradation of the coastal space of Algiers. The aim
of this work is to analyze the urban growth in the wilaya of Algiers during the years 2015 and 2021, using
remote sensing techniques. For this, we used satellite images of SAR type, acquired free of charge on the
Copernicus site. We have pre-processed them in order to prepare them for an image classification with an
algorithm based on "machine learning". The sampling was done on the Google Earth software thanks to its
historical images. This work allowed us to make a comparative analysis which clearly showed that in 7
years, the artificialization of soils has evolved in an intense way.
