peuplements auxquels elles appartiennent.
durable.
Abstract :
Crabs are Arthropods that belongs to the brachyuran crustaceans. Many species live in the
Mediterranean Sea and some of them are caught in Algerian fisheries. However, no deep study has
been conducted on them. The particular difficulty often encountered when identifying these
species has prompted a study of systematics which has led us to improve the identification keys
for similar species. The data from the Thalassa oceanographic campaign (ISPTM, 1982) used in
ecology study of the two exploited species Calappa granulata and Geryon longipes made it
possible to better understand their behavior (distributions), as well as the structure of the
populations, to which they belong. Dynamics of the populations’ analysis of these two species
provided the growth parameters as well as the exploitation indices which were used to apply the
cohort analysis of Jones (1983) and the model of Thompson and Bell. (1934). Recommendations
are issued at the end of this analysis in order to maintain a sustainable exploitation.
