BAMBIOM.
Résumé
Le présent travail nous a permis de réaliser un inventaire national de référence sur les espèces
d’éponges marine. Cet inventaire a porté le nombre des espèces connue le long de la côte
algérienne a 136 espèces appartenant à 82 genres, 49 familles et 20 ordres, représentant, environ
20% de la diversité des Porifères connus de la Méditerranée. Parmi les éponges inventoriées le
long de la côte algérienne, nous avons identifié une espèce non indigène (Paraleucilla magna), 10
espèces protégées par la Convention de Barcelone, et une nouvelle espèce signalée pour les
éponges de la côte algérienne (Crella (Crella) elegans) identifiée à partir d’une photographie sousmarine prise au niveau de la zone de Sidi Merouane-Ténès à une profondeur de 37 m.
Cet inventaire ouvre les perspectives pour une amélioration des connaissances sur la biodiversité
marine de la côte algérienne. Il fait partie de la base de données national sur la biodiversité marine
BAMBIOM.

Abstract
The present work allowed us to carry out a national inventory of reference on the species of
marine sponges. This inventory has brought the number of species known along the Algerian
coast to 136 species belonging to 82 genera, 49 families and 20 orders, representing about 20%
of the diversity of the known Porifera of the Mediterranean. Among the sponges inventoried
along the Algerian coast, we identified a non-indigenous species (Paraleucilla magna), 10
species protected by the Barcelona Convention, and a new species reported for the sponges of
the Algerian coast (Crella (Crella) elegans) identified from an underwater photograph taken at
the level of the Sidi Merouane-Ténès area at a depth of 37 m.
This inventory opens the perspectives for an improvement of the knowledge on the marine
biodiversity of the Algerian coast. It is part of the national database on marine biodiversity
BAMBIOM.
