Descriptive notes:

Even adults attain only about 10 cm in body length.
Body short and slightly compressed.
Ventral side expanded.

Mouth and eyes small.
Teeth present in jaws and on palatine.

Skin smooth.
Skinny appendages are observed on body
and fins.
Body color light-yellow with dark brown wavy lines.
Above the wavy lines there are reticulate blotches.
Live mostly on floating seaweeds.
It is presumed that at the early stage of fingerlings, fish
pass through the seaweeds and remain stationary
by
touching the seaweeds with skinny appendages and eat
small marine animals which adhere to the weeds.
Found in Japan Sea especially in the floating seaweeds in
Black Current.
Nervus olfactorius thick.
Slightly expanded bulbus
olfactorius closely adhered to large lobus olfactorius.
Lobus inferior comparatively small.
Lobus opticus
egg-shaped and small.
Corpus cerebelli small, flat knob-like.
