Descriptive notes:

Adults attarn about 100 cm un body length.

Slender body compressed and covered with very small
ËË .

Waua
Lateral lines wavy with numerous fine branches on upper
{$ËBÈSÆÜËËÊŒIËFËËËËÎŒIÊËÎÆËJÈŒ …‘HËÎË)
and lower margins.
Mouth cleft horizontally and curved.
Sharp spear-shaped and curved teeth in both jaws.
Color of dorsal surface greyish-blue ventral surface,
silver-white.
Grey spots run vertically in six or seven lines
on
each side of body.
Live near the surface of the coastal waters.
Eat mainly small marine animals located by means of
sight and acoustico-lateralis system.
Extent of migration comparatively wide.
Swimming movement quick, but do not form schools.
Distribution extends widely from the coastal waters of
Japan’s main island to the waters of Shikoku, Kyushu,
Korea and North China.
Caught by pole and lines.
Bulbus olfactorius closely attached to lobus olfactorius.
Both are small;
Optic lobe comparatively well-developed.
Corpus cerebelliand eminentia granularis very large.

Crista cerebelli enormously large and forms large somatic
sensory lobe above medulla oblongata.
